Do I need a transit visa in Dubai:

A Dubai visa is issued to travelers transiting through UAE airports. It is issued for 96 hours and must be sponsored by an airline operating in the UAE. The visitor must have a valid ticket for the next flight. Citizens of Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Niger, and Yemen are not eligible for a 96-hour visa on arrival.

The UAE issues two types of transit visas: one for 48 hours which is free, and the other for 96 hours for AED 50. Transit visas must be processed and approved before entering the UAE and cannot be extended.

Transit visas are obtained by the UAE-based airline you are traveling with. The airline usually arranges your transit visa before your trip. If your trip is organized by a travel agency, the transit visa will be issued by the travel agency.

Transit Visa Eligibility:

The Dubai transit visa is a single entry visa granted to travelers who need to stay in the UAE for more than 8 hours as part of airport transit. Transit visas can be granted in two types – 48-hour transit and 96-hour transit.

If you are traveling via any of the emirates and have a ticket to a destination other than the one you flew from, you are eligible for a UAE transit visa. In addition, the departure time from the local airport for the next flight should be at least eight hours after the arrival at the airport.

Apply for Transit Visa:

You can apply for a transit visa by completing the Temporary Resident Visa Application and selecting a transit visa from the list of options on the form. If you are traveling to or from the United States, you may not need a transit visa.

Dubai Transit COVID-19 Rules:

According to the Emirates travel requirements page, transit passengers are not required to submit a COVID 19‑PCR test certificate unless mandated by their final destination.

Passengers who have booked Dubai Connect/Stopover packages must comply with the same PCR test requirements as passengers arriving/entering Dubai.
